GUYS & DOES

BOOK & LYRICS BY FREDERICK HEIDE & LEE BECKER

MUSIC BY PAUL LIBMAN

A master Wisconsin deer hunter must bond with his nervous wannabe son-in-law in this crowd-pleasing hit musical comedy that helps hunters and non-hunters understand each other.

Harried millworker Fritz is on his annual deer-hunting trip.  He’s bringing Duane, an awkward non-hunter wanting Fritz’s permission to propose to his daughter.  But then a swaggering Texas big-game hunter shows up hot on the trail of a mysterious white buck.

The show is designed to be performed with three actors if desired, with one playing a double role.

REVIEWS:

Guys & Does is outrageously funny.  It’s a love story in many layers. Laugh?  You think you’ll never stop. Imagination abounds. (WFRV-TV)

Guys & Does was so popular in its premiere run — 54 straight sell-out performances — that the musical comedy was immediately shipped to Green Bay with its original cast and set. Local audiences will find out what makes the professional troupe tick — an original show that's knee-slap funny one moment, thoughtful the next, earthy the next and cosmic the next.     (Warren Gerds, Green Bay Press Gazette)

Goes well beyond musical comedy with emotional depth.     (Russ Bickerstaff, Shepherd Express)

“Constantly funny and entertaining. The situations have the audiences in stitches.    (Marty Lash, Door County Advocate)

The story was funny, clever, surprising, and immensely entertaining. But most of all, the story had real substance to it with themes of romance and love, family, tradition, acceptance, and the ethics of hunting. I have recommended it to dozens of people. (Audience Member, Pendragon Theate Production, Saranac, NY)

The smart and funny musical is wowing audiences.  A nice theatrical package that is sure to please hunters and theatergoers alike.    (Anne Siegel, TotalTheater.com)
